Keeping Horses Means Having Horse Wormers By Your Side

By Debra Myers

Parasitic worms can have a negative impact on the health of many domestic and farm animals. Horses are no exception and it is important to use horse wormer products. Horse wormers have been designed to safely treat and prevent parasitic worms and protect the health of your animals.

If you own a horse, then most likely when you see the word "colic" you immediately feel stressed. Colic is a catch-all word for all forms of gastrointestinal conditions which cause pain in the equine's stomach and/or abdomen. There are many types of colic, including food impaction in the equine's colon, a buildup of gas in the equine's digestive track or sand impaction. It seems like changes in the weather often precipitate bouts of colic at many barns.

If these harmful worms are not treated immediately, your horse will become ill with parasitic infestation. These internal parasites can cause serious damage to the equine's heart, liver, lungs and other harmful and even deadly diseases. To prevent worms from proliferating in your equine's internal systems and to control and get rid of them, you need to regularly deworm your pet. Veterinarians recommend that equine owner have their pets undergo deworming at least four times a year.

Worming products treat worm infestations in equines and ponies. The Animal Medicines Trade Regulatory Authority authorizes individuals to sell wormers online, as there are specific safety regulations that must be obeyed in the dosing, handling, storage and disposal of wormers. The applicator must be knowledgeable about the wormer, any possible side effects that your equine or pony may experience, and how to administer it safely. Read the instructions carefully before dispensing the wormer to your animal.

The Panacur wormer was a success, as worms experienced no resistance to it; so equine owners used it continuously year upon year. The widespread resistance of wormers across the world has caused a similar situation with equest wormers. This method is inexpensive and easier to use than administering the animal with additional chemicals up to four times per year.

Water is essential not only to your equine's overall health, but the liquid mixed with his hay and/or grain is what allows it to pass more easily through the digestive system. As the weather cools, so does the equine's water. Some equines are more reluctant to drink cold water so investing in a heated water bucket may help your equine take in more water.

There are regular immunizations which are required to keep horses healthy and if they become unwell, the vet bills can easily amount to thousands of pounds. It is often not something people consider when they decide to buy an equine, but it is important to have savings for these emergencies. These hidden costs can vary and it is also a good idea to take out an insurance on your equine, so you don't end up having to fork out a huge amount of money when you least expect it.

Whatever animals we own, we should always look to protect them as best as we can which means more than just feeding and grooming them. We need to be well informed on each and every infection, illness and condition our pets can develop. Education is the first step and prevention is the second, without one we really cannot have the other. If your equines have these lice, they can end up with anaemia of the blood, have serious skin irritation which can lead to self-mutilation and suffer a general loss of condition. Pet wormers again are the perfect cure for lice, as they can help to prevent any infestations.
