By Virginia Perry

When you want to tour the world, you have several options to consider. They include personalized tours or traveling as part of a group. Each comes with its advantages and disadvantages. Here we will look at the advantages of traveling as an individuals and what you miss by avoiding the group.

Personal tours give you greater control over your schedule. You choose when to rise in the morning, where to visit, the stops to make, time to return, etc. Since most people plan their travel during holidays, this is a perfect way to relax. You do not have to follow a strict schedule like you do during work hours. If you feel too tired or sleepy, you can extend your rest by a few hours without offending anyone.

You enjoy more scenes and sites when traveling alone. The pace used by a group is that of their slowest participant. You are likely to end up missing some areas. In other cases, you end up at a site you have visited just because it was part of the schedule. This amounts to waste of both time and resources. You might end up regretting enlisting for the tour.

Groups comprise of people who have to receive attention from guides at every stop. Because of numbers, the guides do not offer personalized attention. The visits should allow you to learn as much as possible. Without receiving the attention of the guide, you will be half informed about the places you visit. The intentions of touring might not even be fulfilled. This means that you have wasted your time and money.

When you travel alone, you find perfect time to reflect and relax. People do not just travel for the excitement. They want to enjoy the sights and sounds. Such reflection and contemplation is especially important if you are heading to a historical or religious site. With the crowd, you are hurried to move along. There will be no time to reflect. The significance or details of some of the places might be missed.

It is not all doom and gloom traveling with a group. In fact, there are incredible advantages you stand to enjoy when you join a group. One notable advantage is the opportunity to meet and mingle with new friends. This is beneficial for business and personal reasons. Some members of the group understand history or the features of these areas better. They act as valuable guides and will maintain the friendship for years.

Depending on where you travel, there is always safety in numbers. While the dangers might not come from wild animals or strangers, moving in a park comes with comfort and encouragement. When you see and share the challenges other people are facing, you get the motivation to keep moving. Memories created with strangers are sometimes the best you will ever have in life.

Planning should be meticulous whether you are traveling alone or with other people. Have a clear view of all the places you will visit and the requirements to enable you plan adequately. As much as possible, engage an experienced tour planner who will tighten all the lose ends. You will be surprised at the suggestions they make out of experience. In case of a mishap, the planner will be quick to organize for rescue. The important people in your live should be informed of your plans.
