Find Out The Benefits Of Organic Fibers From An Ethical Children's Clothing Shop

By Bertulda Zerna

We're all concerned about the environment. Pesticide use is one of the major concerns - and traditional cotton uses a lot of pesticides and herbicides. Buying children's clothing made with organic cotton has a number of advantages.

Organic cotton tends to be softer and more comfortable against the tender sensitive skin of young people. Ordinary cottons typically contain a good deal of the chemical products that were used to treat them as crops, even after several washings. Many people, especially kids, who have been labeled as having a cotton allergy, are actually have reactions to caustic materials such as dyes or formaldehyde, that were introduced during processing.

Organic fibers offer a lot of environmental benefits. Conventional cotton fields only use 3% of all cultivated lands worldwide, though they account for about 25% of insecticides and 10% of other pesticides utilized. Farmers who raise their crops free of chemicals not only find that they can produce their products more economically, but their health tends to be better. They use innovative machinery and beneficial insects to cultivate the plants.

When consumers purchase organic materials, they are helping to increase the demand for such products, thus lowering the rate of field working harvesters contracting pesticide induced sicknesses, and it contributes to reducing the cost of organic clothes and fabrics in general.

Although there are no studies showing actual health advantages to the end users of organic fabrics, purchasing them does generate benefits to the environment, as well as to cotton farmers and workers, while it also encourages other cultivators to generate their own marketable product that are free of chemical pesticides.

Also, organic cotton is often of higher quality and more durable, especially if organic dyes are also used (traditional dyes can weaken the fabric). So, next time you go to buy your child a t-shirt, look for one made with organic cotton. It is worth the slightly higher price.
