It is not advisable to place the fruit in refrigerator. The cold temperatures cause the peel of the fruit to develop a texture like that of a rubber. The cold also interferes with the ripening process off the fruit. The fruit should be placed on the floor because it provides a cool temperature as compared to the fridge providing cold temperatures. The fruit should be placed on a fruit bowl for it to ripen better. The fruit should only be placed in the refrigerator when it is mature but only for a shorter time.

When you cut the fruit into two parts, the inner flesh changes color in a very short time. The color changes from green to brown. It is important to softly cover the fruit with a lemon juice to maintain the fresh appearance. Another way of preserving the freshness of the fruit is by putting the fruit inside a container together with an onion.

There is also a way for you to fasten the ripening of this fruit. Put the fruit in a polythene paper and store it in a warm place. The ethylene gas produced by fruits will be trapped inside the polythene paper leading to speedy ripening of the fruit. This is an easy technique and it is also fast.

Fruits mature because of ethylene gas. Every fruit produces this gas. Subsequently, to speed up the ripening process, you can store the avocados with other fruits. For instance, store the avocados with bananas. This will speed up the ripening process. People prefer using apples to assist in the ripening of other fruits because apples still produce ethylene even when they have wrinkled and are almost bad.

In case you need to consume the fruit immediately, then there is a quicker way. It is called the microwave process. You only need to wrap the avocado with an aluminum foil and put it in the microwave. The fruit will be ripe after some time which means you can eat it almost immediately.
