Sometimes A Woman Needs A Mother Guide To Sanity

By Matthew Murray

There are a lot of challenges when you decide to become a parent. Whether you are a single mother ready to do it by yourself, or a wife in a marriage, nothing can get you ready for the road ahead. It would be nice if somebody wrote a book or held classes for a mother guide to sanity. The only sure thing that comes from being a parent is that your child holds many unforeseen adventures that will be discovered in time. Until then, a mom needs to realize that things are going to happen that will make you want to scream and cry at the same time.

One of the most challenging things about becoming a new mom is the fact that their careers should be put on hold for the first few years of the childs life. It is not always possible to stay with the child for the first few years, but it is medically necessary for the health of both the mom and the child. It does take at least six weeks to fully recover from child birth.

If the mom decides to go back to work after the first few months, many obstacles will have to be cleared. First of all, if their bodies are not ready to go back to a work life, the doctor will suggest on the mother staying home to recover just a little bit longer. When it is time to go back, affordable, and dependable child care is necessary. It is often harder to find someone to watch over a younger child than it is a toddler.

When the child reaches school age, around four or five years old, another challenge of motherhood will rise. It is often very hard for mothers to let go of the child and allow them to go to school. It often has something to do with keeping them company during the day, so when the child is gone, it leaves the mother alone.

When the child becomes a teenager, the challenges can get even harder to deal with. Hormonal imbalances, school work and peer pressures make the teen a little time bomb ready to explode. Having activities to keep their minds off these pressures and can, in turn, keep the parents mind at ease.

Staying active in after school programs, sports and clubs will often deter the teen from making bad decisions. The pressures of teenagers can often be overwhelming and will often need more encouragement and support from their parents.

After the teen graduates from high school, the next big decision is when and where to go to college. This can be a hard time for both the parents and the child but the more they are informed, the easier time they will have to choose the right college. When they go to college, the parents will often experience what is known as empty nest syndrome.

When they graduate college, they will either come home or find a career of their own. This is a time of peace and quiet. Most of the time, the parents are retired and can start a new life enjoying each others company.
