Mature women do not have to follow trends. Style trends are fun to look at, but most of them are gone after one season. Many are so exotic, they will only be suitable on the youngest or thinnest of models. There may be some aspects of a trend you can make your own. The rest you should leave alone. Seniors should be open to new ideas. It's easy to get used to certain shops and go there for all the clothes you buy. When women are having a difficult time finding clothes that fit them, or appeal to them, at the old stores, it might be time to widen their horizons. You could suggest women frequent new stores in their area or take advantage of some of the online sites that offer personal stylists and free returns for any clothing purchased.

There are certain items of clothing women of all ages should have in their closet. A good pair of stylish jeans is one of them. They might be boot cut or straight leg denim. Jeans can be dressed up or down depending on what else you are wearing. Women need a good pair of dress pants in black or charcoal. Dress pants have to be well fitted and not too long or too short.

Every woman's closet should include a classic, hip length blazer. A crisp white blouse and a black pencil skirt should also be staples. Camisoles are inexpensive and can be used under sweaters, jackets, and sheer blouses.
