Here Is Some Information About Airplane Interiors

By Deborah Wagner

The aerospace industry is one of the largest industries in the economy of the world. The rate at which the industry is expanding is mind-blowing and it is expected to continue doing so in the foreseeable future. The number of planes produced by major manufacturers seems to grow each year as research indicates that more and more people are using planes to travel today.

Then high growth in the aerospace industry is also pushing the aircraft interiors industry to grow more. In fact, it is approximated that the aircraft interior sector is one of the fastest growing sectors in the aerospace industry. Airplane interiors are built for safety of the people onboard. It is this high level of safety that planes offer to passengers that is motivating more people to use planes on their travels.

Firstly, the interior of planes is made of lightweight materials. Light materials are used so as to reduce the general weight supported by the plane. Even though, the materials are designed to be lightweight they are equally strong to provide the required service besides being durable. In addition, the lightweight materials help a lot in reducing the amount of fuel consumed by the plane. This is essentially crucial in consideration of the fact that the price of aircraft fuel rises continuously.

Plane interiors are sufficiently lit so that passengers and the crew can move around easily. Lights are mostly fitted into the ceiling. When the plane is landing, lights are dimmed for safety reasons. Dim lights help passengers to accustom themselves to darkness in case lights go off during landing. This way, people can exit more easily.

To ensure comfort, seats in planes are cushioned with materials that are smooth and soft. A wide range of materials are used in making seats but they are normally covered by synthetic leather. This material covers the whole seat starting with the headrest, siting platform to armrests. As footrests are prone to getting dirty they are made of metallic material for easy cleaning.

In the modern aerospace industry, manufacturers of interiors are struggling with the need to make more space for passengers. In part, they do this by increasing the size of the chairs and spaces for placing luggage. This is meant to make sure that passengers have more private space. However, increasing personal space is usually faced with the need to accommodate more passengers.

Planes are designed with oxygen masks for use during emergency situations. For instance, in case there is a problem with the air recycling system on the plane, passengers would have a hard time breathing. To solve this problem, cabins are designed with oxygen masks that passengers can use until the problem has been resolved or the plane has landed.

Lastly, the interior of a plane is installed with temperature regulators to ensure that passengers remain warm at all times. The temperature is usually maintained at room temperature because this is assumed to be a comfortable temperature level for everybody. However, it is possible to increase or reduce the temperature if there is need.
